Scout Rider in Command An Army: Cavalry Line Guide (Lancer)
Scout Rider → Cavalryman → Lancer is the game's documented cavalry line — the skirmisher that owns the space before the fight. Chain, role, and patch history.
FAQ
What does the Scout Rider evolve into?
Did cavalry get nerfed in Command An Army?
What is cavalry for in a four-unit army?
Is the Scout Rider line good on defense?
Cavalry owns the space before the fight — and the Scout Rider line is its documented backbone: a three-stage chain that ends in the Lancer, a launch-day balance footnote, and a role no other class can copy. This page is the record.
What is the Scout Rider’s evolution line?
The official info channel lists it among the launch chains:
| Stage | Notes |
|---|---|
| Scout Rider | Base unit, Cavalry class |
| Cavalryman | Second stage, documented at launch |
| Lancer | Third stage — the line’s documented ceiling |
Promotion gates on Mastery Level 20, the cap, reached through play (upgrading guide). The full chain table with sources lives on the evolution paths page.
What role does the line fill?
Skirmisher — the third role in the army building table: win the space before the point fight. In practice that means three jobs:
- Approach speed — arriving first to capture points, or intercepting arrivals.
- Punishing movement — units caught mid-reposition die to a charge they never saw forming.
- Flank guard — the answer to enemy cavalry and to anything slipping past your line toward your archers.
The honest ceiling: on the point itself, cavalry value drops. The game ships a dedicated dismount order for mounted units fighting in cramped terrain — the formations guide covers when to use it. The class is the signature of attack tempo; on defense it becomes the fast responder (attack vs defend).
What has changed in patches?
- September 5 (launch day) — cavalry attack damage lessened by 10%. The first official patch post of the game, alongside pathfinding improvements and an aim/rush VFX fix. The launch meta had cavalry hitting too hard; the nerf is still the line’s only dated entry (patch history).
- Nothing since. The September 6–13 posts touch other classes — the spear line’s speed buff and the archer family’s range cut both reshape cavalry’s world around it, without touching the line itself. Faster spears are worse news for a committed charge; shorter archer range means the backline cavalry hunts now sits closer to its wall.
How do you raise one?
Duplicates → Ascension; battles → Mastery toward Level 20. The line rewards an early lock on attack-first armies — it earns its slot from match one. Pulling on purpose: the summon odds page has the official rates, and the codes page funds the pulls.
What is still being verified?
No official stat card exists for any stage — base stats, the Cavalryman’s and Lancer’s jumps, and the line’s Gem cost are unrecorded. Whether the Lancer’s frame adds mechanics beyond the charge (a couch mechanic, bonus vs. specific classes) is unknown until verified in-game. Each fact lands here with a date as it confirms.
